Just In: US Senate Cancels Renomination Plans For US SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw

The US Senate Banking Committee has canceled its scheduled vote to renominate U.S. SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw. This decision effectively ends her tenure at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where she has been a vocal opponent of cryptocurrency-related policies.

Senate Vote on SEC Caroline Crenshaw Renomination Canceled

A Senate aide confirmed that the planned markup vote for Crenshaw’s renomination, set for Wednesday, was canceled. The aide cited a lack of floor time as the main reason for the decision. Without a formal vote, Crenshaw’s renomination process will not move forward, meaning she will not serve another term at the agency.

Caroline Crenshaw was initially appointed to the SEC in 2020 as a Democratic commissioner. Her term has been marked by strong opposition to cryptocurrency developments, including spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

The cancellation of the vote is seen as a procedural move as the Senate prioritizes other legislative matters in the remaining session.
